Today the Bombay Stock Exchange has more than 5000 stocks listed in it, however the investor still lingers for more. There are some very good companies with sound corporate governance, sound year- on -year growth and profitability which are still not listed in any of the major stock exchanges. Even though we have more than 5000 different stocks listed, investors look for few as many companies fall into the category where they have corporate governance issues and it becomes risky to have them in portfolio for a long time.
The long term investors which we all should actually be thus tends to wish to have other companies which are not listed. Some of them are, IT major like IBM, Accenture, CTS , dairy major AMUL, insurance major LIC, FMCG major PARLE, Airport Authority of India(AAI), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and media major Yashraj films. We have companies in every sector that is still not listed in NSE and BSE.
May be one day these companies would get listed into stock exchange via IPO, but may be the value at which these IPO will open would be beyond our reach.
